It was 1972 when 25-year-old Marjorie Wintjen and 27-year-old Paul Wintjen sought a mortgage for a home that would suit their four-person family, all with a $14,000 salary between the two of them.

“But their lending officer didn’t want to count Marjorie’s income. the officer agreed to include half of it, which would enable them to qualify for the mortgage, if the Wintjens would agree to one condition: She would have to provide a medical certificate stating that she was sterilized.”

Today we wrap up our December theme #1 Acknowledge Trailblazers. We would like to thank all the incredible women who made this first monthly principle so special!

We heard the importance of saying no and standing up for yourself. We learned that every obstacle has the power to make you stronger and more prepared. Most importantly these women taught us that anyone can be a trailblazer and it’s important to know and learn from the women who came before you.

Special thanks to our hosts this month Erica Courtney & Leora Ruzin ❤️

Continue to reflect on the trailblazers in your life and post your stories using these hashtags #NDILCLeadership #NDILCPrinciples #NDILCTenforTwenties #DILCTopTen
