Women can benefit a great deal by having professional mentors. Men already have an edge over females when it comes to earning appropriate wages and advancing to upper level management. Having smart, successful mentors for professional ladies can work wonders in bridging the inequality gap.

Now here’s where it may be tricky: sometimes women are the problem when it comes to helping each other. Many women who didn’t have professional mentors early in their careers may feel like other women need to struggle too. But this simply sets women back and is not doing anything to promote equality.

Be advised: men pay attention to the way women in the office treat each other and if it’s not in a  just way, it won’t help gender equality in the workplace.

It can be common for people to be jealous of peers that are more successful. In regards to women, this can stem from the fact that t women as a gender have struggled professionally throughout time. But here is the reality: there is no shortage of how many women can be allowed to thrive in their careers.

Many of us have girlfriends in our lives who are our emotional support systems when it comes to raising a family and being a wife. But what about professional support systems? These are just as important, especially considering the vast amount of time we devote to our careers.

It is wise for women to receive guidance from both women and men so as not to limit themselves, and mentorship can help professional women with their confidence at work.

If you’re a professional woman, offer to mentor women who are starting their careers. And if you’re in need of a mentor, look around your office and offer to buy coffee for a co-worker you admire to discuss your career goals. There are also various sites online to link you to professional mentorship systems as well
