Senate Banking Panel Approves Fannie, Freddie Wind-Down

A Senate panel passed legislation on Thursday that would wind down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and prevent taxpayers from financing another bailout, similar to the financial crisis in 2008. Introduced by Senators Tim Johnson (D-S.D.) and Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), the bill sought to create a new government agency, the Federal Mortgage Insurance Corporation (FMIC).

NWBC Welcomes New Executive Director

Washington, DC. Today, the National Womens Business Council, NWBC, announced its new Executive Director: Amanda Brown. Amanda was most recently the National Political Director for Rock the Vote. She is a Forbes 2014 30-under-30 recipient and has previously served as an Advisor for Strategic Planning to the U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

 

“I believe that Amanda’s proven leadership abilities, vision, relationships and execution skills will enable us to create even more traction as a leading voice on economic issues facing women entrepreneurs,” said NWBC Chair Carla Harris. “I’m thrilled to have Amanda on board and am excited to have her work with us, to advance the Council’s initiatives in 2014 and beyond.”

The Middle East is Closing the Gender Gap
