Now is the time to learn what Millenials look for in places to live.  As a new group are about to graduate college and will be moving across the country, understanding the cities and neighborhoods that appeal to them and the reasons why, can be very beneficial to a real estate professional.

This is the time of year when a new class of college graduates begins to plan their future and look for jobs across the country. After four years of schooling, the time has come for these Millenials to graduate and enter into careers around the nation. Many will set their sights on the big cities, New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles to launch this new chapter in their lives; however the uncertainty of the job market and the continual rise in cost of living has introduce interest in other American cities. 

In order to understand the exodus of Millenials from the traditional cities and neighborhoods, it is important to understand the factors influencing their decisions. Niche.com conducted a study of the top 25 cities and neighborhoods based on factors such as median rent prices, average age of city/neighborhood population, income level, education level, racial diversity, crime rate, and unemployment rates. When it came to ranking neighborhoods the survey looked at factors such as shopping, dining, nightlife, attractions, and access to sports/exercise activities.

Even though the economy is recovering, recent college graduates are still effected by the difficult times, and finding their niche is essential to their long-term success. The 25 cities and neighborhoods on the ranking were chosen based on the aforementioned factors, but not all factors played a part in all the rankings. While some cities or neighborhoods on the list may have astronomically high rents or a higher crime rates, they make up for their faults in other aspects. The Millenials look for a balanced city/neighborhood to live in.
