Real estate agents with busy schedules can probably relate to daytime sleepiness. When they’re in the field, it is imperative stay alert and ready to work.

The busier our lives get, the more we find it appropriate to let sleep fall by the wayside. But here is an important thing to remember: sleep is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. Most experts say that the average person needs to get between seven to nine hours of sleep each night. This is not only needed to do your job efficiently, but to preserve good mental and physical health.

You should be very aware that not getting enough sleep can hinder your ability to bring  in income. It can also make you forgetful and unable to give your clients proper information. So what can you do to make sure you’re prioritizing sleep when battling a tight schedule? And how do you best deal with the day when you haven’t gotten your eight hours? Here’s how:

  1. Expose Yourself To Bright Light In The A.M.

Immediately after waking up, open your curtains and let the sunshine in. You can also take a quick walk outside to help make it easier  to rise and shine. Real estate agents  can park a little further from the property they are showing so they can take in more outside light.

  1. Take Naps In Between Showing Properties

If you are able to sneak in a quick 15 minute nap, make sure to do so. This can leave you feeling refreshed and put you in a better mood to greet your clients. Naps can also help ensure that you drive more safely in between showing properties. Understand that it is extremely dangerous to drive when tired, as you can get into an accident and harm yourself or someone else. Make sure to nap and/or get some caffeine before you drive.

  1. Avoid Being On Gadgets Late At Night

It is a little known truth that watching TV late at night confuses our minds and bodies into thinking it’s time to be awake. The bright light from your TV, computer, or cell phone is the reason for this. No matter how tempting, turn off the tube and play a relaxation CD or read a book. For those who absolutely cannot refrain from being on their phones before bed—turn down the brightness to help combat its negative effects on sleep.
