The Momentum of Female Entrepreneurs

Women business owners and their businesses are booming. These enterprises are securing more funding, growing in number and effecting a serious change on the American economy. This week, the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) released their Business Outlook survey reporting that the revenue, compensation and staffing for women-owned businesses are growing.

The WPO study “focuses on attitudes regarding business challenges and opportunities, as well as forecasted outcomes of top women-owned and led businesses around the world.” In August the survey polled women leaders and business owners at multi-million dollar companies. Survey participants responded to questions anonymously.

Key Findings:

  • 63 percent of respondents plan to hire more employees this year
  • WPO members generate an average of $13.2 million in revenue per year, and average 92 employees
  • 9 percent of WPO members plan to increase their salaries by 9 percent
  • 8 of survey participants will increase employee salaries between 3 to 10 percent
  • 7 percent of members have grown since joining WPO

WPO is a global collective of women leaders. They have over 1,800 members in 125 chapters across the world. In the United States, new chapters are scheduled to be opened in Wisconsin and Maine this year.

The results of the WPO survey illustrate that women entrepreneurs are growing and succeeding with conviction. Just as significant as this success is the fact that joining WPO is usually followed by business growth. This communicates that uniting with other female entrepreneurs and joining member organizations is good for business. The truth is that when we come together we thrive.
