Dedication to Diversity and Inclusion Results in Change

NAWRB’s dedication to women’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) aligns us with companies and organizations with corporate social responsibility. Equally important to internal D&I culture is collaboration between businesses and industries to embrace diversity. One organic result from implementing D&I as a fundamental tenet in the American workplace is bottom line growth.

We are proud to announce that the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) recently honored Wells Fargo Home Lending with an inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Award for its efforts in market outreach at the 3rd Annual MBA Summit Diversity and Inclusion 2016 in Washington DC.

MBA’s Market Strategies Award “recognizes company initiatives that are specifically developed and designed to increase outreach, marketing, and products to attract customers from the industry’s fastest growing market segments. This award commends the hard work, dedication, and creativity in the creation of exemplary diversity and inclusion programs focused on new market outreach.”

NAWRB is honored to have Wells Fargo Home Lending as a Strategic Partner and Cerita Battles, Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Diverse Segments, Wells Fargo & Company on our Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council (NDILC). Through their leadership, dedication and commitment to having multiple avenues to grow D&I, Wells Fargo Home Lending is contributing to the success of women and minorities.

I had the privilege of speaking on the Building a Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Program panel at the MBA’s Summit on Diversity and Inclusion 2016 alongside Dwight Robinson, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, Freddie Mac; Antoine M. Thompson, Executive Director, NAREB; Kris Benson, Vice President, Human Resources, Envoy Mortgage; and Maria Zywiciel, President, NAHREP Consulting Services. All acknowledged that D&I is a work in progress and needs to be part of the everyday professional culture.

At their annual convention in Boston this past October, the MBA also presented Ballard Spahr and SunTrust Mortgage with Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Awards for organizational diversity & inclusion, and The PrivateBank and Trust Company for market outreach strategies.

Recognition and awareness provide a great testament to the positive impact of D&I on the housing ecosystem.

True D&I can organically increase the bottom line while affording equal consideration and participation to employees and vendors from all backgrounds. It is a process and it takes time. Every day we must embrace the opportunities and achieve our goals for accountability and prosperity. Doing the right thing is powerful!
