As NAWRB has covered in previous blog posts, women-owned businesses remain disadvantaged throughout the business sector. This is particularly true in regards to access to capital, as women business owners struggle to obtain loans for their businesses. There have been recent developments eradicating these difficulties for women-owned businesses, such as the power of sole source authority for the Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program. Women’s Retirement

A recent study from Financial Finesse, a California-based financial wellness company, reports that women fall short of the money they need for retirement. For the study, “Using an example of a median 45-year-old man and woman, the Think Tank looked at median incomes, deferral rates, retirement savings, life expectancies, and projected healthcare costs to determine how much each would need to save in order to replace 70 percent of their income in retirement.” Continue reading

House Passes TRID Grace Period Bill

There is no question about it; the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) rule transforms the way business is done in the mortgage industry. After multiple postponements, TRID was officially implemented on October 3 with the assurance from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) that there would be an informal grace period carried out at least through the end of the year for lenders attempting to comply in good faith with TRID regulations. Best Workplaces for Women

This week, Fortune and Great Place to Work released their inaugural 100 Best Workplaces for Women list. For the report, Great Place to Work surveyed over 130,000 women from more than 600 companies who responded to a thorough questionnaire concerning, “everything from the fairness of their company’s promotions, to who has access to information and leadership, the level of support for employees’ personal lives, and the degree of inclusiveness and connection they feel with colleagues. Women answered 58 questions in total, including an overall assessment of whether the company is a great place to work.” Continue reading
