Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) will be one of the many topics addressed at the 2018 NAWRB 5th Annual Conference, “Year of Women,” this weekend on July 29th-31st in Chicago, IL, at The Standard Club. Attendees will witness informative discussions about D&I in different industries in the housing ecosystem, from workplace disruptors and supplier diversity to procuring contracts and unspoken issues impacting women. Our speakers come from well-known corporations and government entities, and they are influential leaders in their fields. mPower Addressing Workplace Disruptors

This special mPower event will feature discussion about workplace disruptors with both women and men industry experts. Led by Marcia M. Davies, COO of Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and Founder of mPower, will address gender equality and the issues in today’s workplace. These real estate finance executives—Rebecca Steele, President & CEO, National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC); Stacie Rankey, VP of Client Relations, Gerner & Kearns Law Firm;  David Hrobon, President & CEO, Wintrust Mortgage; and Tamara King, VP of Residential Policy and Member Engagement, MBA—will share inspiring professional stories and discuss solutions for workplace challenges, leaving you with invaluable lessons learned.

SHETalk Sharron P.A. Levine: “If Women Designed Cities Would They Build High-Rises?”

This year we are introducing our SHETalk series—concise 20-minute presentations by industry leaders on important issues. Sharron P.A. Levine, Director of the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI) at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is joining our impressive speaker lineup to discuss the advancement of minorities and women in the housing ecosystem.

This panel, featuring experts in supplier diversity and D&I, will provide attendees important information about contracting opportunities for women and minority businesses. The panel includes Victor Christiansen, Chief of Minority and Women Business and Diversity Inclusion Branch, OMWI, FDIC; Sharron P.A. Levine, Director of OMWI, FHFA; Deborah Baldwin, Deputy Director, OMWI, National Credit Union Administration (NCUA); Mark Hands, Supplier Diversity Program Manager, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; and a contracting officer from the City of Chicago.

Unspoken Issues Impacting Women: Poverty, Health, Sexual Exploitation and Self-Confidence

Women face unique issues that, if not addressed, can adversely affect D&I efforts. These obstacles, such as women’s poverty and health issues, sexual exploitation and a lack of self-confidence, are either unknown, unaddressed or require a more concerted effort to alleviate.
