SBA to Announce New Research Findings on Diversity Trends in Small Business Investing

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced that on Thursday, October 13, Maria Contreras-Sweet, Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will release research findings from a recent SBA study conducted by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress on diversity-related trends in small business investing.

The event will include two panel discussions on the findings and new LinkedIn partnership to expand corporate board diversity.

  • The first panel will focus on findings from the study on women and minority representation in Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs).
  • The second panel will outline a new public-private partnership with LinkedIn and other organizations called Open Network for Board Diversity (ONBOARD).  This coalition will work to expand the presence of underrepresented groups on high growth small business Advisory Boards, Boards of Directors and increase diversity in small business leadership, particularly for those supported by SBICs.
