NAWRB is proud to announce that Silvia N. Rathell, our Government Relations Chairwoman, has been named Director for Latin@ Council of the Maryland Diversity Leadership Council. The position will allow Rathell to help generate involvement and request feedback on strategy to bolster voter participation among the Latin@ community.
The mission of the Maryland Diversity Leaderships Councils
“To energize activists throughout the state, register voters, amplify the Democratic message, engage with members of diverse communities, and supplement the coordinated campaign to turn out Democratic voters throughout Maryland. In non-campaign cycles the Councils are responsible for increasing inclusiveness, capacity building, voter education, and empowerment of Maryland’s diverse communities.”
A Washington, D.C. veteran and co-owner of Rathell Properties LLC, Rathell has held positions at the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
The MAFO Board of Directors selected Rathell for the 2016 President’s Award, and in 2015, she was the recipient of the Alverno College Service to the Community Award, in recognition of demonstrated effective leadership through her community contributions.
Rathell sits on several national boards and advisory councils, including the White House Policy Briefings for Latino Leaders, The National Farmworker Alliance and the Social Security Administration’s Latino Advisory Board.
