Do you separate your work-life from your home-life? Some of us may think that work will always bleed into our home lives and that work-life balance is just a myth. In reality, some people are able to achieve balance. Thus, work-life balance is not completely unobtainable. Even people in the public eye  with never-ending  amounts of responsibilities still find a way to live a more balanced  lifestyle. So the question arises: do you lead a balanced life or do you allow work to take over? Check out the following insight and inspiration for a more balanced  life.

If you spend much of your time out of the office and in the field, it can be beneficial to think of something you enjoy about your job and  associate it to an object. According to life coach Martha Beck, this association can make for a much more Zen life. For example, maybe  you love how you can interact with customers face-to-face and the objects you associate this with are your business cards or the  tablet  you use to showcase properties. When you have these work-associated items in your possession, they can help you maintain productivity and only focus on work for the time being.

Use this same tactic with home-life. What is it that reminds you of home? Maybe it’s the handed down coffee pot that your mom used on early Saturday mornings. Or maybe it’s your scrapbooking materials that make you feel  at home. Whatever it is, put these objects in a place in your home that resonates with you. When you’re surrounded by objects you heavily associate with home, your body will automatically relax and your mind will take work out of the equation.

People who are committed to having the proper work-life balance understand that constantly focusing on work can increase the chances of poor health. One good motivational technique is to allow yourself to think about the things that bring you joy. It may be the jog you take in the morning with your husband, right before you stop for a latte. Or it could be playing with your children and hearing their laughter. Remember these things so that you have motivation to take care of yourself, and understand that living a healthy lifestyle is essential to your well-being and the things that bring you happiness.
