Women in the Housing & Real Estate Ecosystem (NAWRB) will release the NAWRB 2019 Women Housing Ecosystem Report (WHER) for attendees only at the 2019 NAWRB Conference, Redefining Leadership, on Aug. 4th-6th at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena, CA. The third installment of the most diverse coverage of the Housing Ecosystem has over sixty resources in six volumes, including Diversity & Inclusion, Homeownership, Women-Owned Businesses, STEM, Aging Population, and Family Offices with a gender lens perspective.
A new study by the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative looks inclusion in the film and TV animation industry, including increasing opportunities for women in leadership positions and challenges women minorities face as they go up the pipeline.
In February, Representative Gregory W. Meeks (D-N.Y.) introduced the H.R. 1018 – Improving Corporate Governance Through Diversity Act of 2019, which will require public companies to disclose the gender, race, ethnicity and veteran status of their board directors, nominees and senior executive officers, as a way to track the progress of diverse representation in the corporate sphere.
“Diversity has been proven to have a positive impact on business performance, and it is only natural for investors to want to know which companies are choosing to bring in a wealth of different perspectives into their corporate board rooms,” Representative Meeks said in an official statement. “Revealing the gender, racial, ethnic, and veteran makeup of these corporate C-suites and boardrooms will not only shed light on the value of diversity, but hopefully encourage corporate shareholders to increase diversity in the highest ranks of their corporations.”
DiversityInc just announced their annual list of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity for 2019. Over 1,800 companies participated in a survey to evaluate the performance of their diversity-management initiatives in the context of their own industries. The four key areas under evaluation were talent pipeline, talent development, leadership accountability and supplier diversity. A recent report by the Service Women’s Action Network (SWAN) shows that more women are in senior enlisted and officer ranks as more are pursuing careers in the military. There were 30 female admirals and generals on active duty in the five services in fiscal 2000. In 2018, there were 63 females occupying senior positions in the military. The increase of female representation is credited to more women staying in the military and more opportunities being made available, such as military occupational specialties.
