Fraud and embezzlement in banks can drastically take a toll on business owners. But it is possible to change the system and protect our hard earned money. Desiree Patno, the CEO of NAWRB is looking to spread the word on this issue. She joined us to talk about her own personal experiences and how you can avoid becoming a victim. Here are three takeaways from our time with Desiree Patno on Critical Mass Radio Show:

1. Womens’ economic growth and sustainability/independence matters.
While on Critical Mass Radio Show, Desiree Patno discussed how her organization helps ensure that more women have the “seat at the table” they deserve by empowering women in leadership. Desiree noted the shocking statistic that, due to a variety of factors, 30% more women millennials live under the poverty line than women in any generation before them, making it even more crucial to fight for womens’ economic growth.

2. Silos can be a barrier to professional advancement for women. Desiree noted
that often opportunities for professional advancement arise as a result of simply knowing about the opportunities, and the truth is that men are often in more environments where they are exposed to these opportunities, and a lack of communication between organizations and entities can prove increasingly problematic. Some related challenges include data overload, as it takes more than an initial outreach for individuals to engage.

3. The “IT” factor is what should matter most. When it comes to creating equality in the workplace, it is crucial to consider all avenues in order to find individuals who are truly capable of the job at hand. By embracing individuals of all backgrounds and identities, you will not only create advancement on a societal level, but will also widen your net of candidates so you can find people who will advance your company as well.
