In a new fact sheet title Small Business Ownership by Age, the NWBC reports:

  • Women in the 45 to 54 age group represent the most amount of women-owned firms with almost 2.5 million businesses
  • The age group that experienced the most amount of women-owned small business growth from 2007 to 2012 is 65 or over
  • Men outnumber women in every age group, but the difference is smallest in the under 25 age category

Women-owned small businesses, currently numbered at 10 million, are growing steadily. The younger generation is bridging gender gaps and helping prove that women entrepreneurs are mighty. As women-owned small business utilization increases, support systems and networks will work to set the scene for future entrepreneurs of all ages.
