NAWRB has made great strides toward providing awareness, opportunities, and access to both women and women-owned businesses in the housing economy. To continue spreading awareness of opportunities and take NAWRB to new levels, engaging and passionate members are needed to fulfill the roles of NAWRB’s Board of Directors and corresponding Committees. General Responsibilities include:
  • The term for each Board Chair position shall last two (2) years
  • Devote at least eight (8) hours a month to the position
  • Plan one (1) event relevant to their position twice a year
  • Work with their committee to aid in the successful implementation, collaboration and execution of the chair’s respective duties to NAWRB
  • Shall submit a report before each board meeting once a month detailing their engagement, progress, business opportunities, and all relevant measurable statistics
  • Take place in regular ongoing communication with NAWRB staff and committees for updates and support

The following are parameters and requirements for each chairwoman:

Government Relations

The Government Relations Chairwoman will be passionate about government and involved in the political landscape. This Chairwoman must be knowledgeable of trending and/or key political issues relevant to NAWRB and its members. In addition, the Government Relations Chairwoman will actively work on creating awareness of the issues affecting the housing industry whether it is on a local level, within the NAWRB community, or on a national level.

Certification

The Certification Chairwoman is responsible for expanding the presence of NAWRB’s third-party certification through business channel and making sure certification processing is being maximized. The Chairwoman will oversee the implementation of tools such as marketing campaigns to promote the importance and value a Women-Owned Business (WOB) and Minority Women-Owned Business (MWOB) Certification can provide to the woman business owner that specializes in the housing economy.

Chapter

The Chapter Chairwoman will supervise the creation of new NAWRB chapters throughout the United States. It must be noted that it is in the best interest of NAWRB that chapters are created in high market areas. Thus, the Chairwoman must use her discretion on the appropriateness of installing a chapter in a given market. Once appropriateness and support is established, it is the Chairwoman’s duty to communicate with NAWRB staff regarding the implementation and execution of chapters.

Regulatory & Policy

The Regulatory & Policy Chairwoman shall remain knowledgeable in new and/or proposed regulatory and policy developments in regards to the housing economy. The Chairwoman will become the NAWRB authority for informing members and the Board of Directors on the potential impact of said developments, requirements needed for implementation, and will provide the education necessary to maintain compliance with relevant regulations.

Membership

The Membership Chairwoman will promote the importance of NAWRB membership on a local and national scale to increase membership and therefore provide women in the housing economy with the resources for business success. The Chairwoman must be proficient in the benefits of NAWRB membership, new strategies and the audience it pertains to in order to better engage and recruit new members. The Membership Chairwoman must be prepared to present membership activity reports at Board of Directors meetings to better assess the delivery and impact membership information has received on local and national levels.

Events

The Events Chairwoman is responsible for recruiting and training volunteers, and directing Events Committee members in the planning and execution of NAWRB events. She must have a firm grasp of event planning and the mission of NAWRB in its entirety in order to competently scout ideal locations and attract relevant audiences. The Events Chairwoman proposes new events on local and/or national levels that benefit women across the housing continuum.

Media Outreach

The Media Outreach Chair will oversee the marketing and collecting of contributions to the publications of NAWRB that include but are not limited to blogs, e-Zines, and NAWRB Magazine articles. The Chairwoman must interact with the NAWRB Social Media Manager to understand social media best practices and objectives. The Media Outreach Chairwoman must also form relationships with outside publications and housing industry-related platforms to promote NAWRB and its outlets.

NAWRB Foundation 501(c)(3)

The NAWRB Foundation is a nationwide non-profit that establishes community outreach and assists women in the housing economy and the communities they reside in. As the Chairwoman of the NAWRB Foundation 501 (c)(3), you will aid in the transformation of applicable communities and form community connections that will benefit the foundation.

Business Development

The Business Development Chairwoman must have proven business acumen to fulfill the needs of this role. The Chairwoman must fully understand the preferred partners of NAWRB and the organizations/sponsorships NAWRB seeks to align itself with. This position will utilize personal business knowledge to form strategic relationships with pertinent organizations and businesses to promote and strengthen NAWRB. The Chairwoman must have an ongoing  communication with NAWRB Business Development developing new relationships.

NAWRB Magazine

With an outreach in the thousands, the readership of NAWRB Magazine is vast and requires a Chairwoman experienced in marketing and strategic development to not only maintain but grow readership exponentially. The Chairwoman must also adequately market the magazine with sponsorships and contributors from related industries within the housing continuum are compelled to provide quality content to the magazine.

Regulatory & Policy

This committee shall remain knowledgeable in new and/or proposed regulatory and policy developments in regards to the housing economy. Committee members will help spread awareness of policies to NAWRB members on the potential impact of said developments, requirements needed for implementation, and will provide the education necessary to maintain compliance with relevant regulations.

Committee members will work with the Events Chairwoman to plan and execute NAWRB events. A firm grasp of NAWRB‘s mission must be understood to competently help the Chairwoman scout ideal locations with relevant audiences. Members may also propose industry events to the Chairwoman for consideration.

Media Outreach

The Media Outreach Committee will help collect contributions for NAWRB publications that include but are not limited to blogs and NAWRB Magazine. Networking and forming relationships with outside publications and housing industry-related platforms to promote NAWRB is an important responsibility as well.

NAWRB Foundation 501(c)(3)

The NAWRB Foundation is a nationwide non-profit that establishes community outreach and assists women in the housing economy and the communities they reside in. This committee will foster community connections that will benefit the foundation.

A strong familiarity of the preferred partners of NAWRB and the organizations/sponsorships NAWRB aligns itself with is required. Members will aid the Chairwoman in forming strategic relationships with pertinent organizations and businesses.

NAWRB Magazine

With an outreach in the thousands, the readership of NAWRB Magazine is vast and requires a passionate committee who can grow the readership exponentially. Marketing the magazine to extended outreach and relevant audiences is critical for gaining quality content and expert contributors.
