Best U.S. Cities to Live on a $60,000 Salary

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income in the U.S. was $61,937 in 2018. What kind of life does this afford the average American? The answer depends on a variety of factors, such as spending and saving habits, as well as the cost of living. In addressing the cost of living factor, SmartAsset released a report listing the best cities to live in the country with an income of $60,000.

Housing Costs Ease for Homeowners But Not Renters Since 2008

A decade after the housing crisis, a U.S. Census Bureau report shows that housing cost burden has eased for homeowners but has remained stagnant for renters since the peak of the recession. Recent data from the American Community Survey (ACS) estimates the percentage of “burdened” households that spend at least 35 percent of their monthly income on housing costs.
